Mission Statement

WAYVE provides youth in Westfield and surrounding communities with quality volunteer opportunities throughout Union County that introduce new skills, enhance life experience and provide useful knowledge for college and career. Our goal is to match agencies and individuals in need of volunteers with enthusiastic teens and young adults.

Volunteer Calendar

Social Service Advocacy


  • This program matches young adults with elderly or disabled clients who need help with important tasks such as managing finances, advocating with landlords, or finding resources
  • Training and guidance from experienced social workers and professionals in the field
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Education / Tutoring


  • Tutor lower income students who may not have access to tutoring
  • Volunteer in supervised environments such as libraries, JFS Office or partner schools
  • Receive training from an experienced educator
  • Must be at least 15 years old

Nutrition / Food Pantry


  • Work at the newly renovated Food Pantry at Jewish Family Service as well as other pantries throughout the county
  • Develop educational nutrition information with the guidance of a nutritionist and distribute to a diverse population
  • Potential to serve thousands of recipients each month

Teen Philanthropy


  • Join the WAYVE Teen Foundation Board. This innovative program directs teens on how to become the next generation of philanthropic board members
  • Learn the process of reviewing grant proposals, deliberating with other board members, and allocating funds to local agencies
  • Prospective teen board members will submit a paragraph explaining why they would be a good board member donate and a $300 fee to participate (fee will be used as part of grants). Space is limited.

Peer Volunteer Leadership


  • Become a leader in volunteerism. We will create a leadership committee among teens in Westfield and the surrounding area
  • Receive training in leadership, marketing, and volunteer management
  • Be part of an empowered group of teens working together to recruit peers and encourage more active volunteering
